Vietnam exports measles vaccine

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dang Hien, Director of POLYVAC - Ministry of Health, said the Center recently exported 1 million doses of measles vaccine to India.

Next week, an Iranian delegation will arrive to negotiate the import of Rotavirus vaccine produced by Polyvac.

To reach this conclusion, Danish scientists analyzed data from over 657,000 people born between 1999 and 2010, including 6,500 diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.

The results showed no link between vaccines and autism, even in high-risk groups. Notably, the rate of autism in kids vaccinated between 1999 and 2000 was lower than in unvaccinated kids.

"Caregivers should not refuse vaccination due to this baseless link between the MMR vaccine and autism," emphasized Anders Hviid from the Statens Serum Institute.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dang Hien added that previously, Polyvac and Bangladesh partners had several meetings to move towards signing a Rotavirus vaccine export contract.

Currently, Polyvac produces measles, measles-rubella, rotavirus, and polio vaccines, most of which serve the National EPI.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dang Hien added that Vietnam is one of the countries selected by WHO for mRNA vaccine technology transfer, with Polyvac as the focal point.

A WHO expert delegation is expected to visit Vietnam next week to work with Polyvac on related matters.

Despite being a developing nation, Vietnam has decades of vaccine development experience, and its National Regulatory Authority (NRA) is WHO-recognized.

mRNA technology is advanced, allowing for variant updates and mass production, significant not only for COVID-19 but also for future pandemic response.

Regarding domestic production, we have researched and supplied 11 out of 12 EPI vaccines, contributing to national vaccine security.

Vietnam is 1 of 7 countries selected by WHO for Phase 3 clinical trials of the tuberculosis vaccine, showcasing its clinical research strengths and gaining early access to new vaccines.
