Finished Vaccine Production Department
General Introduction
The Finished Vaccine Production Department was established in 2005, based on the development of the former Sabin Vaccine Production Science Center's formulation group.
Currently, the department has two separate production facilities:
- 135 Lo Duc Facility: Produces finished polio vaccine and finished Rota vaccine.
- 418 Vinh Hung Facility: Produces finished Measles vaccine (MVVAC) and finished Measles-Rubella combined vaccine (MRVAC).
Functions and Tasks
The Finished Vaccine Production Department is responsible for
Production, storage, and release of finished vaccines such as:
- Polio vaccine (IPV); Rotavin-M1 vaccine; MVVAC Measles vaccine; MRVAC Measles-Rubella combined vaccine
- Performing other professional duties as assigned by the Center's Board of Directors.
- Since its establishment, the department has consistently fulfilled its mission of producing finished vaccines for the National Expanded Program on Immunization and the commercial market.
- Products are manufactured according to plan, on time, with correct specifications, ensuring quality according to WHO and POLYVAC standards.
- Fulfilling all validation, calibration, and quality control items fully, correctly, and on time.
Actively coordinating with the technical department and related units to optimize production costs and save materials through:
- Coordinated operation of efficient AHU and boiler systems
- Proactive planning and accurate distribution of raw materials, avoiding waste
Participating in scientific research and international cooperation
The department has participated in major projects with technical support from the Japanese Government, including:
- Grant aid project: Construction of Measles vaccine production facility in Vietnam (2003–2006)
- Technical support project: Strengthening capacity for Measles combination vaccine production in Vietnam (2006–2009)
- Follow-up technical support project: Consolidating Measles vaccine production facility in Vietnam (2011)
- Technical support project: Strengthening capacity for Measles-Rubella combination vaccine production in Vietnam (2013–2018)
