On March 18, Pfizer Vietnam Co., Ltd. and VNVC Vaccination System signed a memorandum of cooperation in vaccine production.
Goal of vaccine production in Vietnam
Under the agreement, Pfizer will assist VNVC in enhancing knowledge for building an international-standard vaccine production plant in Vietnam.
The cooperation focuses on sharing expertise and developing joint capacity in vaccine production.
After the signing, Pfizer Vietnam will deploy global experts to organize vaccine production knowledge-sharing programs for high-level specialists at the VNVC vaccine and biologicals plant.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen highly appreciated the efforts of VNVC and research organizations in innovating to help Vietnam achieve vaccine self-sufficiency, ensuring stable and high-quality supply.
The partnership is an important milestone showing Vietnam's deep integration and access to modern technologies, especially in building a sustainable ecosystem for new drug and vaccine production - Deputy Minister Xuan Tuyen said.
He also stressed the importance of VNVC developing capacity, building a high-level team, promoting clinical trials, and creating an international-standard quality management system.
According to U.S. Consul General Susan Burns, the cooperation marks an important milestone in the growing partnership between the U.S. and Vietnam, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the second year of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
"This is a relationship that promotes prosperity and innovation for both nations," Susan Burns emphasized.

Mr. Darrell Oh, General Director of Pfizer Vietnam, said: "Pfizer is excited to support capacity and knowledge building for VNVC's world-class vaccine plant initiative. We believe in VNVC's vision and ability to promote preventive medicine in Vietnam.
We believe this partnership will have a positive impact on patients' lives and the overall healthcare landscape in Vietnam."

Proactive investment in vaccine production
For VNVC, the event marks a major step in the "Made in Vietnam" international-standard vaccine strategy through building a modern plant and partnering with top global manufacturers.
This strategy will contribute to proactive investment in science and technology for vaccine production, enhancing self-sufficiency in high-quality vaccines for Vietnamese people, and aiming to list Vietnam in the global vaccine supply chain, protecting public health.
Mr. Ngo Chi Dung - Chairman and General Director of VNVC Vaccination System and VNVC Vaccine and Biologicals Plant - said the partnership and knowledge-sharing with Pfizer is a key step in accessing world-leading modern technologies for vaccine production and public health protection.
According to Mr. Ngo Chi Dung, the agreement opens opportunities for VNVC to learn from Pfizer's modern production experience, moving towards high-quality vaccines using top-tier global technology, and seeking technology transfer to meet domestic demand and participate in global supply chains.
Previously, in January 2025, VNVC signed with Rieckermann Group (Germany) to design a vaccine plant meeting the highest international technical and environmental standards, with an investment of about 2 trillion VND in Long An.
