Presentation of JICA President Award to Vietnamese units

On Dec 13, the 2018 JICA President Award Ceremony for Vietnamese units was held at Nikko Hotel, Hanoi.

The awards went to one individual and four units from the Vaccine and Banknote Ink projects. The ceremony for Japanese units was in Japan in Oct 2018.

The award was granted to POLYVAC, Kitasato Daiichi Sankyo Vaccine (Japan), and Mr. Ishikawa Shuzo (Sakura Global Solution) for his contributions to plant design and as a bridge during technology transfer.

Through JICA projects and WHO support, Vietnam perfected Measles and Measles-Rubella production, yielding high-quality, international-standard vaccines for stable market supply.

Vietnam-Japan vaccine cooperation began in 2002 with a grant for a Measles plant, followed by technical projects enhancing Measles (2006-2010) and Measles-Rubella (2013-2018) capacity.

The two remaining partners receiving the JICA President's Award for the "Strengthening Banknote Ink Production Capacity" project are the National Printing Bureau of Japan and the National Banknote Printing Plant of Vietnam.

the Banknote Ink project supports Vietnam's self-production of ink, aiming to build a master plan and test off-set ink production at a trial scale.

With passion and dedication from both sides, the project achieved mass production technology within 3 years, far exceeding initial goals.

This is an annual JICA award for individuals and groups contributing to developing nations' economic and social growth. In 2018, 35 individuals and 14 collectives were honored.
