VNVC Vaccination System donates half a million measles vaccine doses to Ministry of Health

On March 17, VNVC Vaccination System donated 500,000 doses of measles vaccine (MVVAC - Vietnam) to the Ministry of Health to accelerate nationwide measles vaccine coverage.

Joining hands to repel the epidemic

Speaking at the ceremony, MSc. Dr. Nghiem Tran Dung, VNVC representative, said that a large number of children and adults may not have been fully vaccinated. This could be one of the reasons for the many severe and complex measles cases this year.

"This activity not only demonstrates social responsibility but also our commitment to joining hands to repel diseases and protect the health of millions of Vietnamese children and families in various ways.

Previously, in September 2024, thousands of VNVC doctors and staff participated in the measles vaccination campaign organized by Ho Chi Minh City, contributing facilities, medical supplies, and deploying teams to join the city's health forces for measles prevention," MSc. Dr. Dung shared.

Currently, VNVC has nearly 220 centers nationwide with over 4,000 vaccination lines. However, to achieve rapid coverage, coordination between VNVC and local EPI programs is essential.

Therefore, as the Ministry of Health urgently accelerated vaccinations, VNVC was ready to contribute and donate a large quantity of measles vaccines to support local timely vaccinations for the community.

At the event, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong, on behalf of the Ministry of Health, thanked VNVC for their support. According to her, supplying a large quantity of vaccines in a very short time is a challenge for the Ministry. In this context, the Ministry received valuable and timely support of 500,000 doses of measles vaccine from VNVC.

"This quantity of vaccine can be delivered immediately to localities, contributing to accelerating the measles vaccination campaign in line with the Prime Minister's instructions," Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Lien Huong said.

On the same day, VNVC also officially launched the "Joining Hands for Measles Prevention" campaign nationwide.

The campaign will feature meaningful activities to raise awareness about measles, such as talk shows and online exchanges to answer public questions, while strengthening communication and encouraging timely and full vaccination according to health sector guidelines.

Supporting people with low-cost measles vaccination, the system also introduced policies to assist families, especially in remote areas, with low costs and "inject now, pay later" options through interest-free installment plans for up to 12 months.

Providing all types of measles prevention vaccines

Dr. Bach Thi Chinh, Medical Director of VNVC, said that nationwide, VNVC provides all types of measles vaccines for children from 6 months old and adults, including MVVAC (Vietnam), Priorix (Belgium), and MMR-II (USA).

Among them, MVVAC is a single measles vaccine. MMR-II and Priorix are combination vaccines for measles-mumps-rubella in one shot, enhancing prevention efficiency and saving costs.

"In outbreak and high-risk areas, children vaccinated from 6 to under 9 months old are counted as dose 0. They must continue with measles-containing vaccines from 9 or 12 months old according to the standard schedule," Dr. Bach Thi Chinh said.

Dr. Chinh added that besides the donation and campaign participation, VNVC strives to supply other vaccines like flu, pneumococcal, meningococcal, dengue, and shingles vaccines amidst complex disease developments...

Specifically, we strive to implement many promotion and financial support programs to help people, especially disadvantaged families in remote areas, easily access high-quality vaccines through "inject first, pay later" programs with 100% interest covered by VNVC.
